Bed Bug Instructions
YOU MUST PREPARE FOR TREATMENT...
NOTE: Waterbeds must be drained prior to initial treatment.
The Bed Bug treatment is extensive and many surfaces will need time to dry before you re-occupy the residence. You may stay until we are finished in order to lock-up, but then you must leave for 3 hours. We like to schedule treatments for mornings so that you will be able to re-enter in time to prepare supper and re-assemble beds.
Wash bedding. (Wash bedding weekly until bed bugs are gone.)
Clean clothes can simply be run through a dryer cycle for at least 20 minutes to kill eggs. After drying, place clothing in heavy duty plastic bags or totes (labeled for convenience), securely sealed, and stored away from beds.
Clutter under beds provide bed bugs with hiding places and prevent effective control. Be sure clutter is removed from near beds prior to treatment and every night. (This includes papers, tissues, socks, and toys.)
After vacuuming, empty the vacuum cleaner and discard the contents in a sealed plastic bag.
Toys, Stuffed Animals and Books that have been kept in the bedroom: Do not allow children to sleep with these items until bed bugs are all gone. Store them across the room from the bed at night. Don't sleep with a TV remote control or electronic device on your bed.
- For treatment purposes, please do not stack boxes and bags so that baseboards cannot be treated (we only need 6 inches).
Bed bugs usually feed only once per week. They may have to cross the chemicals several times before they succumb to the insecticide. Three weeks seems to be an optimal time for second treatments. Don't expect them all to be gone in a week.
Empty dressers IF you are still seeing live bed bugs. Closets should have things pulled to center on second visit; empty IF you are still seeing live bed bugs.
Most of the time it takes 2-5 weeks for complete eradication. However, sometimes additional treatments are necessary.
We keep the costs for additional treatments extremely low (if done within 90 days of the first treatment). Our experience shows that most re-sprays are needed due to heavy infestations, re-introduction or cluttered conditions, but there can be other factors. In any case, we have the same goal as you have: Eradication. If bed bugs are not all gone 3 weeks after the second treatment you should arrange for an additional treatment (charges will apply).
